If you are looking for micro-consulting jobs then LinkedIn is the best platform for you. Why?
Let me share my experience and how I discovered it the hard way after losing thousands of dollars. I hope it will help you so you don’t have to make the same mistakes I did.
Let’s start with this. Imagine you I told you that if you wanted to get consulting work, I demanded you just through 100’s of stupid degrading hoops and I demanded that every week you work for 10 to 20 hours with no pay and no benefit and I demanded that you smile and thank me for working for free. Now after all that I demanded you pay me 20% of every dollar you make and also I told you that you are going to lose tons of the money because after you do the work some tire-kickers are going to nit-pick what you did and just refuse to pay.
Would you agree to those terms?
You are smart which is why you are researching this so you don’t fall for something like what I outlined above. But I was an idiot and I agreed to this stupid scenario. I did this. I paid the 20% fee, got scammed and not paid for work, and also had to work 10 hours to 20 hours for free unpaid every week (they call it an interview). That is pretty much the deal on most of these consulting broker platforms. So don’t be like me and don’t do it. It’s not worth it.
So how can I do minimum free work with 0 jumping hoops like a good little dog and get top dollar for consulting?
Well on Linkedin I only put in 1 hour per week not 10 to 20 to “interview” with no pay. But instead of doing it over and over and over again, on LinkedIn, I do it 1 time to 10, 20 once even 47 people at once!
Then I sign up 2, 3, or more paying clients and get paid for consulting from that point up and LinkedIn will not take a 20% cut from me. Doesn’t it sound like a better platform for you? I think it does! At least for me, it’s much better.
The way I do it is just set up a LinkedIn event and prepare one presentation so everyone can see what I do, how I can help them, give some examples of the consulting work I did and the benefits of hiring me, and then I give them a link to hire me. That’s it. My next event I should have at least 20 people sign up and I hope to get 2 or 3 consulting clients out of it.
I hope this helps you and you can try this strategy and get some great consulting clients like I did.
